Our Story
Coffee had a problem. We took it personally.
Walk into any coffee shop. Stare at a wall of bags covered in tasting notes you'd need a sommelier certification to decode. "Stone fruit forward with a jasmine finish and hints of brown sugar." Cool. But does it taste good to you?
That's the question nobody was asking. The coffee world got so caught up in origins and processing methods and roast curves that it forgot the most important variable: the person drinking it.
Coffee For Humans started with a simple observation. People don't actually struggle to find good coffee. They struggle to find their coffee. The one that fits. The one that feels right on a Tuesday morning or a Sunday afternoon. The one they stop second-guessing.
Your coffee is already out there. You just haven't been introduced.
Founder Johny Schott spent years watching people over-complicate the same decision. Grab a bag. Hope for the best. Get disappointed. Repeat. The information was everywhere — and none of it was useful. Because knowing a coffee is "washed process from Huila" doesn't tell you whether you'll actually love it.
So he flipped the script. Instead of starting with the coffee and hoping the right person finds it, start with the person and match them to the coffee they didn't know they were looking for.
That's how the Persona system was born.
Eight personality archetypes. Each one tied to a specific origin, roast level, and flavor profile. Not random. Not gimmicky. Built on the idea that the way you move through the world — what you're drawn to, what energizes you, what grounds you — says something real about what you'll reach for in a cup.
Your personality already knows what you like. We just made the connection.
Human first. Always.
The name isn't an accident. Coffee For Humans means exactly what it says. Coffee chosen by who you are, not by what's trending. No gatekeeping. No jargon as a flex. Just a straightforward path from you to a coffee that actually makes sense.
One of our eight Personas — The Human — is based on Johny himself. Because this whole thing started with one person deciding coffee should feel personal. Not intimidating. Not pretentious. Personal.
That belief extends beyond the cup. We're a 1% for the Planet member, committing 1% of every sale to environmental causes. Good coffee starts with good soil, clean water, and healthy ecosystems. Taking care of the planet isn't a marketing angle. It's the baseline.
We're not here to tell you what to drink. We're here to help you figure out what's already yours.
