Great coffee should feel good long after the last sip. At Coffee for Humans we’re building a simple promise: delicious coffee, responsible choices, and clear guidance so you can do the right thing without thinking too hard.
What “sustainable” means to us
We focus on three things that actually move the needle. First, thoughtful sourcing and quality that rewards the people who grew the coffee. Second, packaging and shipping that reduce waste. Third, honest education so you know how to store, brew, and dispose with confidence.
Our packaging is compostable
Our retail coffee bags are made with compostable materials. That means they’re designed to break down in the right conditions instead of lingering in the trash. You still get freshness, aroma protection, and a clean opening and re-seal experience.
How to dispose:
- If your city collects organics: Place the empty bag in your green bin if local guidelines accept certified compostable packaging.
- If industrial composting isn’t available: Reuse the bag for short-term storage, snacks, or grounds. When it’s worn out, follow local waste guidance.
- Labels and zippers vary by region: Check local rules. When in doubt, remove stickers or closures before composting.
Tip: If your area allows backyard compost, cut the bag into strips to speed it up.
Smarter shipping
We keep transit materials minimal. Think paper-based fillers and recyclable mailers whenever possible. Fewer components make disposal easier and reduce the chance of “wish-cycling.”
Buy the right size. Waste less.
Freshness is sustainability you can taste. If you drink one to two cups a day, a 12 oz bag usually lasts about two weeks. Brewing for a household or an office? A 5 lb bag can reduce packaging per cup and saves on repeat shipments.
Simple storage: Reseal after every brew. Keep bags cool and dry. Avoid fridges. Grind right before brewing if you can.
Set your cadence with a subscription
Subscriptions cut last-minute shipping, help you buy the right amount, and reduce stale-coffee waste at home. You can pause, skip, or change the grind anytime.
